Operations Manager

The Operations Manager is responsible for the overall performance and coordination of the fabrication and assembly operations at AMH. This role ensures that production goals related to safety, quality, delivery, and cost are achieved while maintaining alignment with AMH’s strategic shift toward Fab-in-Shop and Pick-and-Ship production. The Operations Manager leads daily shop operations, supervises departmental leads, and drives continuous improvement in workflow, efficiency, and team engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Planning

  • Lead and mentor Fabrication, Welding, Material Processing, and Assembly teams through the department leads.
  • Translate company goals into clear weekly production plans tied to available capacity (1034 hrs/week).
  • Manage daily production priorities through Job Traveller flow, ensuring schedule adherence and on-time delivery.
  • Coordinate with Operations Assistant to confirm readiness of materials, and travellers before job release.
  • Conduct daily huddles with department leads and weekly production reviews with the Director of Operations.

Performance & Scheduling

  • Monitor daily production throughput and labour utilization against plan.
  • Track and report on production KPIs including On-Time Delivery, labour variance, and rework rates.
  • Identify bottlenecks and implement corrective actions using root-cause analysis and NCR/CAR processes.
  • Oversee workload balancing and staffing across shifts to maintain steady output and minimize overtime.

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure all work meets AMH fabrication and welding standards (internal QC checklists).
  • Support the Quality Control program by enforcing in-process inspection and final sign-off requirements.
